Great reasons to try Acupuncture

cartoon of doctor using chopstick for acupunctureOften I am asked how many sessions will it take to correct this problem or that condition.  Although everybody is different and will respond somewhat differently to any treatment, including acupuncture, in general, I say give it one month of weekly treatments for every year you have had the problem (lets say you have had this left lower back problem that started two years ago  Given the nature of qi and meridians and balance, I say give it 2 months of weekly hour long sessions).  This, of course, isn’t a hard and fast rule, but it gives you a fair estimate to the of the commitment of time and money that they have to make in order to get the relief you are looking for.  There have been many cases in which the problem was solved before the estimated number of treatments originally based on an estimate of how long the problem has been around.  Remember, acupuncture is not magic.  It is science that works, in most cases.  Its science of the bodies own healing abilities being activated; it takes time.  Also, not all conditions can be 100% helped.  Some conditions must be brought to attention of your physician.

I always do a re-assessment by the fourth treatment and as the work progresses to make sure we are on the right track and that acupuncture is the best approach for the underlying condition(s).  Sometimes acupuncture is best combined with other modalities such as prescription medicine (allopathic medicine) or massage, but as you can see from this graphic, there are lots of conditions for which acupuncture brings great relief (not a complete list of conditions).

If you like a ten-minute phone or in person consultation to see if acupuncture is the way to go for you and

your ailment, give me a call.
