FAQ's
Your Health is Your Greatest Wealth

What should I expect?
During the treatments, clients often report a feeling of "calm & relaxation", and get a restful and rejuvenating nap.

Treatments build on each other and after a few treatments, enough progress has been made that symptoms subside as the underlying cause(s) are corrected and then treatments can be less frequent.  Maintenance treatments can be as infrequent as 4 times a year.

Acupuncture is perfectly safe & brings with it only pleasant side effects.  For example, a client reported, "I had a lower GI problem that I forgot to mention, and now I find that it is resolved as well"!
Thats what I call a pleasant side effect.

For your first visit allow 1.5 hours for evaluation and treatment & arrive 15 minutes earlier in order to fill out health questionnaires.  Subsequent visits will take about an hour.

Does it hurt?
Generally there is little to no pain involved with the insertion of the needles & only a momentary sensation.  Sometimes there is not even a sensation of any kind with the needle and client wonders if the needle is in.  Sometimes, when there is a significant block in a meridian, there is a slight, or even a somewhat significant sensation of pain for a moment as the block is released & balance begins to be restored.

Are the needles safe?
Single use, solid yet flexible, hair thin sterile needles are exclusively used at our clinic and are completely safe.

What is the best way to use acupuncture?
Acupuncture is very useful when there is a condition that needs addressing, whether its an acute or a chronic condition.  However, one does not have to be ill to benefit from acupuncture.  Acupuncture is also great as preventative medicine, and preventative medicine is the way of the future.

An example would be someone who gets sick often, or someone who has a family history of an illness such as adult onset
diabetes, coronary artery disease, or are pre-disposed to auto-immune disorders or cancer.  In these cases acupuncture can be a life changer.  With Acupuncture and or herbs, steps can be taken to modulate any condition that may have a propensity to develop.  For example, knowing heart disease runs in ones family, life style modifications can make a big difference.

Acupuncture treatments are like a breath of fresh air.  Preventive medicine has incredible benefits in terms of quality of life and long term health costs.  Preventative medicine is going to be the focus of our health care in the future as it brings lower cost and less side effects.

Future medicine will focus on educating the patient on the care of the body for optimal health and performance every bit as much as treating the presenting symptoms and their underlying causes.

I am a preferred provider for Blue Cross Blue Shield,  and United Health.

Acupuncture is increasingly covered by various insurance companies these days, and the only way to know if your insurance covers acupuncture is to contact them directly as different policies cover differently.

If you are not in the above mentioned insurance plans, at the end of every treatment, you will receive a comprehensive receipt with codes and procedures that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
